Dragon Lines: Chasing the Dragon Link post
Staff Note: Just amazing. Introspective, thoughtful, and one hell of a read.
I about just lost all my marbles simply from laughing inside my own head.
The phrase is so perfect. Chasing the dragon. It has a specific history but it is often used to refer to, essentially, a drug junkie who is pursuing that one epic, indescribable, mind-fucking high, but never quite reaches it due to their built-up tolerance of their drug of choice. I think anyone who has habitually used a substance for purposes of recreation or mind expansion will understand this version of the concept of “chasing the dragon”.
But oh, the symbolism!
Because, after it all, here I am. The dragon trailing the pearl of wisdom. The dragon which does not know itself. The dragon which ultimately chases its own tail, perceiving that the body attached to the tail it chases is not its own, but some greatly desirable delicacy to be devoured and assimilated in the hopes that it will somehow become more and greater than it is.
