Welcome To Burning Muse: FAQ
- [Please share this with anyone who might be interested. Thanks!]
1. What is Burning Muse?
- Following us plays no part in whether or not we share your work on Burning Muse.
- Burning muse is dedicated to sharing the work of writers who [we feel] are talented, fresh, add to the community, and/or may have been overlooked. We understand that the Tumblr bots are not always reliable, and the Tumblr Editors — for the #Prose and #Poetry feature tags — are unpaid volunteers [who deserve our thanks!] with a lot on their collective plates.
- But we also won’t discriminate against “popular” writers. Good writing is good writing. Nor do we care about lifestyle choices, personal philosophy, or unpopular opinion.
- Burning muse is not meant to undermine or criticize the Editors (or similar pages). It’s simply a nice way to expose the community to some of the fantastic members who may have slipped under the radar.
- If you are featured on Burning Muse — It means:
-We were wholly impressed and wanted to share it
-You said something that deeply affected us
-You wrote something that we wish we had written
-You are offering something that we feel feeds the community
-You did something that we believe warranted recognition
-You created something that we feel deserves our support
-No more — No less.
- We also feature Community Writing Projects, Challenges, Book Links, Updates, Tumblr Crush Lists, and recommendations/nominations from other writers.
2. How do I get featured on Burning Muse?
- We’ll find you. If you feel like a piece you wrote is exceptional and deserves to be noticed, just talk to us a lot, and eventually (if we weren’t already) we’ll follow you. After which time, you can reblog it incessantly until either a) someone adds it to our queue or b) you give up.
3. Can I nominate a writer, or specific piece?
- Yes. You can make nominations by going: HERE
- [Note: Please do not nominate your own work. This is strictly to nominate the work of others].
4. What tags do you pull the work you find from?
- Though the staff is not required to track all of the writing community tags, we (The Editors: Kat and Noelle ) do as much as we can. We would prefer it if you do not tag your work as “burningmuse”, since the only thing it does is irritate us. The same goes for “twcp”, since that is made specifically for challenges.
- If you are looking for a list of tags which we track, you can find them by going: HERE
5. Can I ask a question?
- Sure! You can ask a question by going: HERE
6. Is there a staff?
- Burning Muse has two Co-Editors. Generally one will be active at a time. You can check to see which is active, a full list of the staff, and their bios: HERE
